At Children’s Therapy Place our team of professionals will provide your child and family with individually tailored therapy to support your needs. Our counselors will work together with you and your child to:
- Improve positive behaviors at home or in school
- Develop self control and anger management
- Strengthen social skills and self-esteem
- Restabilize after a psychiatric crisis
- Succeed in school
- Decrease conflict with family members, teachers, and peers
- Heal from traumatic effects of abuse
- Recover from emotional distress
Counseling for children and young people may differ from counseling for adults and will depend on the child’s age, specific difficulties and where they are in their development. Different methods may be used to encourage young children to be able to express their emotions that can be difficult for them to put into words. Some methods such as play and art (i.e. drawing, painting, drama) can be beneficial for developmentally younger clients. Older children may prefer talking therapy, or a mixture of both. Which evidenced-based approach used depends on each individual client to meet them where they are at emotionally.
Our skilled counselors can diagnose & counsel children ages 3 & older.
